The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has urged young professionals to take an active interest in politics and contribute to efforts to address Nigeria’s development challenges. The party’s National Chairman, Professor Sadiq Gombe, made the call in Abuja while receiving members of the Young Progressive Professionals. SDP presidential candidate Prince Adewole Adebayo and vice-presidential candidate Professor Usman Bugaje also urged greater youth participation, national unity, institutional reform and purposeful leadership.

Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate Prince Adewole Adebayo has said Chapter Two of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution should serve as a practical guide for government policies, budgets and programmes if he is elected president in 2027. Adebayo made the position part of his “Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity” 2027–2031 governance blueprint, which focuses on using the Fundamental Objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy as a framework for addressing poverty, insecurity and other social and economic challenges.
